In 2001, Astor began teaching knitting at various community centres in Vancouver, BC. Astor became a popular instructor and specializes in teaching beginners. Her nothing-is-obvious style of teaching has led her to author a beginner knitting book, âKNITTING: A Fun and Easy Approach to Knitting.â
Astor started designing and writing knitting patterns for her students. The knittingAstor brand now has a growing following. Her designs have been described as timeless trendy with simple unique constructions. Astor is also known for her quirky sense of humour, one design, Desperate Housefrau (published in Knitty.com October 2006), made one internet surfer/knitter laugh so hard, she fell off her chair.
